Lagniappe: My National League All-Star Votes

As a diehard Cubs fan since we got cable and WGN as a kid in Louisiana, it can be hard for me to be unbiased, but here goes my best shot at an unbiased All-Star Vote in the National League.

I am a big believer in it’s what you’ve done this year (not in your career that gets you there)

OF – Ryan Braun – Brewers

OF – Nate McLouth – Pirates

OF – Aaron Rowand – Giants

3B – Chipper Jones – Braves

SS – Hanley Ramirez – Marlins

2B – Chase Utley – Phillies

1B – Lance Berkman – Astros ( I personally am happy that the Cubs have Derrick Lee because I think he is better, but Berkman deserves it for the season he has put up so far )

C – Geovany Soto – Cubs (Brian McCann’s stats make it a virtual tie, so the nod goes to the home team).

If we had a chance to pick the starter it would have to be Edinson Volquez – Reds.

Has anyone even noticed he has only given up 9 earned runs in 62 innings for a microscopic 1.31 ERA. Also note in that he came back in the 18th inning on 5/25 with one day’s rest (he gave up the game winning homer, but it’s still impressive.)
