Please report the McDonalds' Big Mac price. It was scandalous when Frau Reinke and I were there a grazillion years ago. I think the Big Mac was over six bucks then. But, back then, they used real beef and stuff. :-) Get home safe. And, "TRY" to relax and have fun! rofl. Sounds like your objective is to have video for your TV when you hit the nursing home. It should be to be IN the moment; not the movie.

Well having seen what some adults wear -- the old and fat, as well as the 'confused' young adults -- I'll reserve the right to shake my head in despair over the state of some folk's fashion sense. That, and to occasionally ask out loud 'what' is that girl, or in some cases guy, advertising for? I know that the TV shows all say things like "you can't put the rape victim on trial", but sometimes I just shake my head. In life's negative lottery where one wins "bad things", some costumes are just buying a ticket for a disaster. I'm glad that my RANT set off your rant. We need a national rant on this, and other topics. Certainly won't find it in the traditional media. :-) fjohn

Thanks for the review as I was considering reading this soon. I am not surprised it got a disappointing review though, since some of Parkers novels feel the same way to me. It is true that they provide a quick read but sometimes I find myself desiring more when I'm finished them.

Now I know that I can save it til I have nothing better on my list.

Thanks for the comment.

To answer your question from my perspective, yes, a true leader can look his superior in the eye regardless of if that person is a leader.

Leadership and Management have three components to each of them. Managing Down, Managing Up, and Managing Laterally. You can not be successful unless you can do all three, and frankly you cannot do any of them unless you can speak to each individual on a eye-to-eye basis.

It is always important to remember that you should "respect" your leadership and management structure, but you shouldn't be "afraid" of it.

As we see with dogs, looking away is percieved as a submissive gesture and as such turns everything you say into a question (or asking of permission) rather than a statement of fact. Note that I am not condoning 'attacking' or being 'disrespectful' to an authority figure, but I am saying that if you can't say what you need to with confidence, then NO ONE will follow you, regardless of your title.

Do you think a genuine leader can look his superior in the eye? What if his superior isn't a leader? Does self-confidence really matter in this discussion? I agree with, "know when to follow, when to lead" etc. but wonder about the "eye" part.

thought of your children -- the 'there is no try' guys??

Young Entrepreneurs: Encouraging Children With Kid-Sized Businesses

This article is about Entrepreneurship, Funny Money, Kids

This is a guest post from my wife, and features a story I’ve come to look forward to updating every summer: the tale of two entrepreneurial girls.

Last weekend I explored Portland’s beautiful Eastmoreland neighborhood during its annual 140-family garage sale. In the past, I’ve come away with major bargains, but this year I had to be content with enjoying the first day of summer with a couple of friends. We admired the homes, gardens, and assorted cast-offs of the well-to-do.
